Joel is an amazing person with an incredible sense of integrity. I truly admire his willingness to sacrifice himself. History may not remember his plight but as an artist and a human I will always remember his courage as well as his sincerity. Thank you Joel and thanks to those who have helped him in this absurd trial. I’m sure it’s been rough but money will never equate to the meaning of what took place and why . j.i.e

Very good read but i totally agree with what the judge has done! i work in the music industry and am soon to be out of work and my job because of people like joel!! filesharing is killing music!!!! there are hardly and record stores left in the uk and mine will soon be following suite and closing down. i dont think people should be supporting this guy, they should be bringing others that do the same through court and giving them similiar punishments. this will be the only way to stop illegal downloading and filesharing, this probably wont get publish as its not in his best interest. why people are supporting this guy is beyond me. if he went round stealing things from your house you would be saying lock him up and throw away the key!!! at the end of the day he is stealing someone elses property! and practically giving away there income! The point is that the punishment does not fit the crime. THe only way the astronomical sum they were awarded would be valid is if Joe was the sole (or one of the very few) sources of these files.

He was not of course, there were likely hundreds of thousands of copes of the same file available from other users around the world.
