I shared music. I was the one who wanted a say in court. This lawsuit was against me. This is my verdict. I ask no one to help me. And I ask for no one to cover what I signed up for.
That being said, people started spontaneously messaging me, facebooking me, and [...]

Make no mistake: Joel fought back.
Together with a group of passionate, dedicated Harvard Law students and their professor, this lawsuit was about more than just money. It was also about the fact that Joel fought back on behalf of a generation that hasn’t been able to defend itself against the well-paid lawyers who [...]
“This is me. I used the computer. I did it.”
As I’m sure you’ve heard, today has been a long day. Although quite a few people took the stand, when Joel took the stand today, he was flat out asked:

We thought it was 7 songs.
An email from Joel
They showed the list very matter of factly at my deposition. Nesson says
something like “…7 songs…” They say, “Actually, we’re up to 30.”
Nesson replies, “Since when?”
Eve’s verbatim reply: “You should read the documents we’ve been filing.”

june 29, we go this morning before judge gertner with all discovery issues on the table. the questions we ask define what we consider to be relevant. the answers to the question of whether we are entitled to ask the questions we ask are statements by the law which [...]
By chance, I meet Isaac on the T to the courthouse. We aren’t overly enthusiastic– the weather is bleak and I am exhausted from commencement ceremonies the day before.
Seen from the parking lot, the courthouse is not welcoming. The facade is a brick wall. I feel like we’re tiny eggs trying to smash the brick [...]
