Joel FOUGHT back

By Debbie Rosenbaum
Make no mistake: Joel fought back.
Together with a group of passionate, dedicated Harvard Law students and their professor, this lawsuit was about more than just money. It was also about the fact that Joel fought back on behalf of a generation that hasn’t been able to defend itself against the well-paid lawyers who [...]

more support

Hi Guys,
I’ve dissected the day’s best talking points from the RIAA at
http://e-c-t.ca/blog/?p=138 - I hope some of these points are stressed by the defense when their turn comes up, because right now I’ve yet to see concrete evidence provided by the RIAA.
Keep your chins up!

TRIAL DAY 4

“This is me. I used the computer. I did it.”
As I’m sure you’ve heard, today has been a long day.  Although quite a few people took the stand, when Joel took the stand today, he was flat out asked:
“Joel, are you admitting liability to downloading 30 songs?”
To which Joel responded — deadpanned and sincerely — [...]

TRIAL DAY 3

Today’s trial put the following witnesses on the stand:

– Antonio Franko, Joel’s high school friend
– Dr. Doug Jacobson, a technology expert from Iowa State University
– JoAn Cho, Attorney for Universal Music Group
– Stan Liebowitz, Economist and Professor from UT

Details can be seen here.
Some of the highlights:

The most amazing moment would be if Trent Reznor, the [...]

TRIAL DAY 2

(… just some of the highlights from today. this post does not purport to be all-inclusive or of the highest unbiased journalistic quality.)
As the jurors entered the room to kick off the second day of trial just a few minutes after 9am this morning, one knocked something over in the process of sitting down. Judge [...]

TRIAL DAY 1

Anecdotes and thoughts from today’s trial.

Professor Nesson rearranges the courtroom. Professor Nesson did not like the standard court layout as “rhetorical space,” so with permission of the judge, the defendent table now faces the jurors from across the room, while the plaintiffs remain facing front.
Debbie Rosenbaum granted acceptance. Harvard Law sought to remove Debbie, the [...]

How it feels to be sued for $4.5m

In case you missed it at the Guardian.
By Joel Tenenbaum
To a certain extent, I’m afraid to write this. Though they’ve already seized my computer and copied my hard drive, I have no guarantee they won’t do it again. For the past four years, they’ve been threatening me, making demands for trial, deposing my parents, sisters, [...]
